Various online endheavours are starting to bring some decent revenues to their writers but so far the possibility of making a living by blogging or rather by Nanopublishing, to use the more pro oriented term, is mostly a dream but it can lead to more classical media jobs as Elizabeth Spiers, former editor of Gawker has just proven by getting a job with New York Magazine.
When Nick Denton started his online media project I’m sure he was well aware of the chances for failure, he knew he was risking some money with a new business model, a new concept. I wonder if he expected he would be producing and losing new journalists before seeing profits? Good for Elizabeth, kind of sucks for the guy who got the ball rolling though.
