Australia: 20.5 Million population

C: Dominates at one major team sport (hockey, duh)

A: Dominates at 2 major team sports (cricket and rugby)

C: Local version of American football, with a lot of US players. No basketball league to speak off, one baseball team.

A: Australian Rules football with way more teams than Canadian football, national basketball league, national baseball league.

C: Pretty good at a few minor individual sports (skating, short track skating, rowing, mountain bike, a couple of extreme sports) and I’m being generous with a couple that mostly rest with 1-2 people, not a tradition.

A: Pretty good at a few minor individual sports, very very good at one major individual sport (swimming).

C: Hasn’t qualified for the World Cup since 1986 when we didn’t score any goals.

A: Have, right this minute, passed the 90 minute mark in their “final 16” match against Italy, holding them to a 0-0 tie. Just lost 0-1 thanks to a very bad call by the ref. who gave an unwarranted penalty shot.

We suck. Considering how bad we are at most other sports, we should never ever ever lose any international games in hockey.
