Freak full-Montrealer, present.
me too…but you knew that, right?
On me classe où?
‘tant qu’à lire les commentaires…’
justment, what about a yublog forum? (or is my blog THE official yulblog forum and i dont know it?? ;)
et pis, concernant les régions, weird as it might sound i know a few people in my friends who are born and raised in mtl – i think only aj, mj and alex.
Warwick represent!
it’s especially true of anglo montrealers. only a few people in my circle are born-and-raised montrealers. Everyone else seems to be from away. My wife came from somewhere else (wisconsin) Everyone in my band is from somewhere else (boston, ottawa, stratford ont)!
I suppose it’s a thing, you work in a certain field, where are the schools and jobs? Usually not in the smaller towns. Everyone moves to the city…
also, when you are in a new city, you tend to be more of a ‘joiner’. at school, you join clubs, do stuff, etc. I saw this a lot at university, the local students went home at 4pm, the ones living in residence started all sorts of things to build new circles of friends. They end up dominating campus politics, newspapers and radio stations too, which sometimes leaves the locals frozen out of these prestige cv-building spots…
interesting that with telecommuting, we still don’t see web wizards living in the woods (ok, Dean Allen excepted). People still like seeing other people, working together in offices, living in cities, they need the creative friction…
