A couple of interesting “web 2.0” and Canada related news yesterday, first Kelowna (BC) based Club Penguin was sold to Disney for what seems like a crazy 700 million (according to this post they were bootstrapped which is impressive as hell, from 0 to 700m). Then Treehugger was sold to Discovery Communications for 10 million. Treehugger was founded by Sutton (QC) born Graham Hill who seems to have had a good career, how come I’d never heard of him before? Well done money wise for both teams but it’s too bad to see two more projects heading south of the border.

Graham gave me my first real chance in technology with an internship at his firm Sitewerks in ’97. Seeing as how I was only 15 at the time, it was a pretty generous move on his part.
He’s a really great guy with a strong social conscious, and this sale just goes to show that you _can_ follow your heart and find success.
Kudos to Graham!
Er, yeah, that would be conscience.
Thanks.
