I’m a pretty big sports fan. I watch/follow a number of sports, I know of and am randomly aware of quite a few others. I understand and enjoy the celebratory bonding, chanting, singing, walking arm in arm kind of thing. The after victory buzz for both players and watchers.

What I don’t understand however and what is rapidly getting on my nerves is the whole “I’m 1/4 or 1/8 [insert random european or south american country name here], lets strap that country (which my ancestors left in search of better opportunities)’s flag on the car and honk the shit out of everyone who doesn’t give a crap or, even better, supporters of opposing teams and lets do that up and down busy streets for hours” thing. What gives? Couldn’t you at least walk and chant with your own voice? You have to automate the whole thing?

The only more assinine ritual I can think of is the car burning / store front busting insanity that’s the prefered hockey celebration.
