Over at Linux Journal Doc Searls explains text advertising, how it works and where it’s leading. I only very rarely click on text ads, I kind of dont see the ads anymore, just tune them out but the few I’ve “tried” on Google are usually pretty relevant and they are definitly much less intrusive, that in itself is reason enough to encourage the practice.
