Tom Coates describes a very cool project he worked on at the BBC. When you hear a song on BBC 6 you call a special number and you can bookmark it, tag it and rate it. You (well, not you or me, it’s only research internal to the Beeb) then go to the website and can retrieve that information, go through tags and ratings and find new music with it. In turn, BBC can use the generated data to find out how people listen to their music, what they like, what they consider Pop or Rock, etc. I hope this goes live, I’d like to see it first hand.
