Cameron Moll makes a decision the likes of which I enjoy hearing about. He was well on his way to a job offer at Apple, a dream job if there’s ever been one for a designer. But he opted out of the process, deciding to keep the flexibility and lifestyle he enjoys as a freelancer and the time it gives him with his family.
I like it not as a “promotion” of freelancing but as a sane decision, a sign of thinking about things other than work and giving them the proper weight in your choice. Much like a few shops and restaurants around my neighbourhood who close on Mondays. Not always the most practical for clients but I know that, personnaly, I accept it easily, appreciating the more balanced lifestyle vs the seven days a week crazyness a lot of places (especially chains of course) put themselves through. Well done Cameron.
