It’s new this election – apparently it was introduced by this nationalist guy who was thick with the fascists back in the day, believes in the idea of an Italian ‘race’ etc etc. You’re only eligible if you claim descent through a male ancestor which is kind of dumb. Berlusconi thought it would help him, but it ended up probably losing him the election.
