VIP Hosting

Based on our experience with folks like (the first ever blogger in space) Anousheh Ansari, Scoble, Om Malik’s Web Worker Daily, and other high-profile and high-traffic bloggers using WordPress, we’ve put together something we’re calling “VIP Hosting” which allows these folks to piggyback on our WordPress.com infrastructure, getting the benefits of what we’ve built without the limitations of a free WordPress.com account around theme editing and javascript.—VIP Hosting

Web Directions North

A very very promising conference is coming to Canada, Web Directions North will be held in Vancouver February 6th to 10th. A superb lineup with lots of speakers I’d like to hear. I’d be considering this seriously if it wasn’t right in the middle of the time I’m supposed to not be in Canada.

We’ll see how that goes, maybe I’ll choke on the escape and be close enough to head west. Then again, another thing stopping me is that it’s pretty expensive. Not as much as some others but compared to SXSW which lasts twice as long for a quarter of the price, still not the best deal.

I wonder if Northern Voice, which is usually around that time, will try to match up their event, maybe a couple of days before or after to make the whole thing almost a week long.

Beam Me Up: Apple’s iTV strategy is iChat on steroids

The level of technical sophistication and application integration required to make this work is beyond Microsoft within the next year or five years from now. So where Windows Vista will bring a variety of older Apple OS features to the PC desktop, Apple’s Leopard will go far past the desktop metaphor altogether and introduce friggin’ TELEPORTATION.—Beam Me Up: Apple’s iTV strategy is iChat on steroids
