You HAVE GOT To Be Frickin’ Kidding ME (and other Oscar stuff)

[Adding things as I go]

Glad Cate Blanchett won. She’s always great and plays such different characters. Plus she’s hot. And she’s an aussie.

I’m liking the big floor screen, and the idea of having some nominees on stage is pretty cool.

The singer from the Counting Crows just made it to number one on the all time worse aircut charts. Holy shit! He looks like hell.

W00t!! Un film de l’ONF, Ryan, viens de se faire un Oscar. :-D

Leo is so proud to be sleeping with Gisele Bundchen he makes her wear the sheets.

Zihi Zhang is hot. So is Natalie Portman. Yeah, yeah, they’re both too young. Sue me.

Fucking Beyonce! AGAIN!!

Annette Benning is very hot and classy and talented. There, balances out the age thing.

Jude Law is great. Glad Madonna’s ex stood up for him, even if he did look like an ass doing it.

I don’t like Hillary Swank but she gives good speeches (too long, but good). And have you ever seen a dress that looks so hot from behind and like such utter shiite from the front? She was the Karate Kid and she just won a second Oscar!! Huh.

Glad to see Gwyneth but wasn’t she supposed to be out of the movie business since having Coldplay’s Apple? (her spanish seems pretty good though)

Yess!!! Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind wins for best screenplay written for the screen. Sweet. Charlie Kaufman was even there and went on stage. Kate Winslet is gorgeous and she looks like such a fun/natural person when she yells at her friends at these things.

Sorry girls, seems like the hot latin guys weren’t there. No Javier Bardem, no Gael Ceglowsky.

Charlize.

Man is the best actor category strong! Jamie Foxx wins. Whodathunkit a couple of years ago? Hate the tattoo behind the head dude. Cool speech. Loved the “can’t wait to go to sleep” part.

Is it just me or are they showing Johnny Depp before every award?

Haven’t seen it so I don’t know if Million Dollar Baby deserves all those trophies but since Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and probably Hillary Swank can all kick my ass I’ll say I’m happy with it. What’s with the voice of that producer?

Chris Rock was pretty good. ‘night.

43 Things Montreal

43 Things have added some per city stats and functionality, if you have an account you might want to go update it and make sure the city is part of the information you’re sharing. Montréal is the 11th most represented city with 21 people but there are at least 5-6 of you whom I know have accounts but who don’t show up on ‘’our’’ city page.

I’ll Go Buy a Lottery Ticket Now

So I’m listening to iTunes yesterday, pause before leaving the client’s, don’t listen to it until just now. In the mean time, listen to my iPod on the way home last night and again this morning. Hit pause coming in the building. Hit play on iTunes. Same song is playing (Close range from New Order’s Get Ready). Both are on shuffle from a 922 song library. How much is the Super 7 tonight?

Living The Dream

Jason Kottke, who was “personal siting” before the word blog existed is turning pro, making a go of working full time on his blog. He only takes donations and won’t be using advertising. I’m looking forward to what he’s got in store, I’m sure it will be fascinating to read, I’ve been reading his site for years and it’s one of those feeds that won’t be taken off the list any time soon. And yes, I’ve become a micropatron, although I see it as much as a thankyou for the past years as a payment for the next.

About Frickin’ Time

I’ve finally taken the time to build the site for the Yulzine Duality project I had mentioned. It’s 95% ready so I am now asking for three things:

  1. Photographers

  2. Writers

  1. Themes

Comment on this entry or email me if you’re interested.

[Update] J’allais oublier, c’est full bilingue donc les thèmes peuvent être dans les deux langues et les réponses (post) que vous allez faire sont dans la langue de votre choix.

Couple of US Things

Mostly, I try to stay away from politics and/or US bashing but I saw a couple of things today. In Wired.

Safe: The Race to Protect Ourselves in a Newly Dangerous World, written by three contributing writers to Wired magazine and a former editor of that publication, asks why, if our society is one of the most technologically advanced in the world, we can’t protect ourselves from threats to our safety.

Emphasis mine. In this case society means the US. I wouldn’t say they are the most technologically advanced. Neither are we (Canada). I’d give that to Japan or some Scandinavian countries like Sweden or Finland who have all the same technological advances we or the US do while being ahead 2-3 years in cellular tech and having more advanced government services, automation and web wise. Social and ecological awareness vs technology are also miles ahead. Agree, disagree?

Not directly related but also having to do with the US not dominating as much (except army wise of course). China overtakes U.S. as world’s biggest consumer

Brown warns that the United States, which is the world’s leading debtor nation, now depends heavily on Chinese capital to underwrite its fast-growing debt.

“If China ever decides to divert this capital surplus elsewhere, either to internal investment or to the development of oil, gas, and mineral resources elsewhere in the world, the U.S. economy will be in trouble.”

The commies are underwriting the greatest capitalist country. Whodathunkit!

J’m’ennui.

Cafe Office

I linked to this before but now there’s a video of the Delicious Monster guys working from a cafe all day. Fun idea and I certainly do quite a bit of that by myself but I’m not sure how comfortable I’d be with being there pretty much full time and in a group of 5-6. The management seems to like it but still, isn’t it a bit taking advantage of the place?
