I wondered about posting this since I dont think it interests a whole lot of my readers but hey, I felt like bragging and after all, it is my blog. As most of you know, I play Ultimate Frisbee and from friday at midnight to saturday morning the Montréal league held a “hat tournament” in which teams are drawn at random.
It’s the second such tournament I play in and once again I was extremely lucky to be part of a great team which means that this time we, again, went unbeaten and won the whole thing. W00t!! Not that I was all that instrumental but when winning some games by 2 points all players play a part, even the more average ones. That’s what I tell myself anyway ;).
Nine teams, crazy plays, loads of fun people, pizza break at 4h00am, music during the last games, amazing plays, great atmosphere, lots of chearing, insane plays and aching muscles, all of that followed by a sleepy breakfast. Too bad there’s only two of those each year.

Robert Cringely starts the rumors going for next January’s MacExpo. He expects an iTablet to be announced then, which is something I agree would make sense. The problem I find with his theory is that he bases a lot of it on Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) networking technology and the use of the tablet as a hub for your entertainment and computer equipment. I’m sure there’s room for such a device but I see it more as a wireless screen, not a whole computer.
The post on Onlineblog -which is where I found the Cringely article- mentions that a video iPod is a better bet for the obligatory Apple shocker. I still think that an expanded iPod with color screen and bluetooth is a good way to go. To add web capabilities it would use Wi-Fi or bluetooth (to connect to a cellphone), the ever increasing storage and new color screen would make it useful for image storing from a camera and possibly video. It would have to be bigger than the current iPod of course, probably something like the current PocketPCs but with loads of storage and Apple quality and ease of use it would make the device way more than those glorified PDAs.

Fredericton becomes the first municipality-wide Wi-Fi network in Canada. Isn’t Montréal supposed the be a high tech capital? Where’s our project??
The first phase of the project has already been completed. This means that Wi-Fi technology is now available in much of the City’s downtown and at the Fredericton Airport. By the end of the year, the network will be expanded to include the Knowledge Park, Main Street and the balance of the downtown. In the future, coverage will include all of the City’s business corridors and public spaces.
On tv the maritimes are an hour later but how many years ahead for WiFi?

As I was saying in the previous entry, I dont seem to find a whole lot to post these days which is what finally drove me to post this even though I think it’s kind of fun it’s also border line lame. Anyway, a couple of days ago I watched a pretty long interview with Québec singer Garou and I ended up laughing my ass off because I went to high school with most of his friends they were interviewing and, well, having not seen them in years it was funny to see their “new” faces and watch them being interviewed Entertainment Tonight style.
So, as I knew, Garou was in school with me but only 2 years behind, not ahead as I had always thought which would explain why I didn’t know him. Around the same time there was another guy who would make it to the forefront of Québec life, Yanick Perreault who now plays center for the Montréal Canadiens. He was one year behind me which brings me to my point (if you can call it a point), there’s no one in my year who “made it big”. The closest I can think of is my former class president who got his 15 minutes when he produced the pr0n parody of the Mercier Bridge events using Patrick Cloutier, the soldier who made all the headlines back then.
Aaaanyway, here’s my question, who (if any) did you go to school with that made it big in one field or another? I know of at least two readers who have mentioned their celebrity classmates before…
Told you it was kinda lame. Hurry up and answer, I just might decide to delete this.

I’ve known about this ressource since it first came out but initially I knew pretty much every site he was posting and it seemed like just one more list but; he updates every day, found some gems I didn’t know about and what finally convinced me to post it, it’s archives are perfectly built to literally page through the designs, great place to find inspiration. CSS Vault.

When I grow up I want to write like Maciej. Although… I’m already grown up so I guess I’m screwed on that, maybe you should just go read his accounts of Iceland and Utrecht. Funny and very entertaining, like all his entries. And he paints too. Bastard.
